Not too long ago I was watching a television show about brides to be and it made me realize it has been quite some time since I have been a guest at a wedding. One thing I’ve noticed about brides today is that they’re personal styles are coming through way more in the choice of invitations, gowns and other decor.

The first wedding I went to was in the 1970s when I was about 6 years old and I was the flower girl. The bride wore a traditional white, princess-like gown and I had on a mini white gown. And the bridesmaids all wore the same modest dresses (I don’t remember the color). Now brides are wearing sexy, gowns that may not be white and that may show cleavage, be short or any variation of styles.

The same goes for the supplies. Every wedding invitation in the past was quite similar despite who was sending them. Now wedding invitations have everything from pictures of the couple or abstract art to seascapes and floral arrangements. Rarely seen are the white embossed card stock.
