Dollar bills Most of us love coupons. We may not love having to hunt them down, keep tabs on expiration dates, and make sure that we follow whatever guidelines that are outlined by the manufacturers that produce the coupons, but generally we all gladly jump through hoops in return for saving money. But there are instances where coupons may not save you much, or even anything.

One big thing that turns me off of coupons is when I have to purchase a large quantity in order to save. It’s one thing if I have to purchase 2-3 items to save a dollar or more. But when a manufacturer specifies that I have to purchase twelve cans of cat food in order to save a measly $0.50 — no lie (Purina, I’m looking at you!) — I’m more than likely going to pass.

Or what about those rebate coupons? You know the ones; buy a bunch of stuff from such-and-such manufacturer and you’ll get $10 or even $20 back. But the products are so random and “out there” that you probably won’t be able to incorporate them into daily use,…

On their own coupons can save you money, but if you combine them with sales or other special deals or events, you’ll be able to save even more on them!

Double your coupons. Take advantage of the traditional sales many grocery stores offer, as these sales often include the opportunity to double your coupons. How does coupon doubling work? Simple: if you have a coupon for $1 off a bag of cat food, that coupon will amount to $2 off at the register. If you shop for products and hand $18 worth of coupons over to the cashier, you’ll suddenly have saved $36!

Use manufacturer coupons & store coupons together. Many stores, including major retailers, are printing out their own store-specific coupons for you to use. But did you know that you can combine those store-generated coupons with manufacturer ones? This means you can combine InkSupply.com coupons and manufacturer coupons for ink in order to save twice the amount of money on an ink cartridge or two!

Use coupons during sales. Nothing is…

Sunday paper A friend of mine recently asked me that. You see, I bug him every week for the Sunday paper his place of employment gets. Or more specifically, the circulars, special flyers and coupon pamphlets that are in the Sunday paper. I then turn and use those coupons for my own shopping trips, and pass on the coupons that I don’t want or need to my mom.

It’s hard to answer the question though, because I’ve been able to use coupon codes for so many different purchases! With Pacific Sunwear coupons, for example, I was able to knock a $50 order down to just $12 + shipping. On another occasion a randomly found Old Navy discount code took a quick $10 off a $30 order.

Then there’s the grocery shopping I do every other week. I generally spend $100 – $150 on a biweekly basis, and I use coupons to save anywhere from $5 to $10. That’s not a very large savings, but it’s enough that it’ll add up over a year’s time!

Believe it or not, expired coupons may have plenty of life left in them! Rather than toss them in the trash can, as you may be wont to do when you come across one (or if you’re like me, several!) expired coupon, you can hold onto them and donate them! According to this eHow article, many pet charities and military bases will be able to accept and use coupons, even if the expiration date goes back a year or more.

Expired coupons On a related note, if you have coupons that aren’t expired but you don’t plan on using them, consider sharing the wealth. Donate pet-related coupons to local pet shelters and humane leagues. Take food coupons to local community action offices, as they can distribute them to needy families who need all the help they can in stretching their income to cover all of their basic needs.

For all the other coupons you may have left but are still good but not of any use to you, consider playing Coupon Fairy with them! Take them with you the next time you go shopping at the grocery…

happiness bookBook lovers take note: There are tons of books at Bigger Books and they’re sitting there waiting for you to snatch them up. A Bigger Books coupon that is available right now includes getting $5 off of a $100 purchase. Now $100 may seem like a lot, but if you’re a true book lover that always has a list of books that you want to read or are always giving books as a gift then you’ll want to take advantage of this.

You’ll get a lot for your money too. Bigger Books, which is a discount bookstore that sells bestsellers, new and used books and textbooks, has 15 categories to browse where shoppers will find information in the subjects of art, biographies, business, investing, computers, Internet, cooking, beverages, history, parenting, families and quite a few more. hair careTaking care of yourself doesn’t have to cost a lot of money. You don’t have to give up the latest haircare products or the fancy skincare items; you just have to find them at a good price. StrawberryNET coupons are now available and they include free worldwide shipping, free gift wrapping and a link to the top 20 deals and specials.

StrawberryNET, which has products for men and women, has discount hair care products in high-end, popular brands including Origins, L’Oreal, Sebastian, Redken, Pureology and many more. In addition to hair care and skin care products, the site also carries fragrances and makeup with links to special deals and new products.

I’ve found that having the best products available instead of purchasing cheaper (price and quality wise) makes a difference when doing my hair at home. The end results are more manageable and healthier looking hair. The same goes for my skin. The brands of skincare products on the site include Origins, Fusion Beauty and Garnier –…

Gasoline Gasoline. Imagine if gas stations were willing to offer coupons for $1 off a gallon of gas, or 5% off a $50 or more fill-up. Can you imagine the popularity? The competition? The sheer number of customers many gas stations would suddenly see? In this day and age, with the price of gasoline continuing to rise (seriously, the average price here is $2.71 — just a few months ago it was under $2.30. What happened?!), and wages staying where they’re at, coupons for such an essential would be very worthwhile for gas stations to think about.

Panera Bread. Many restaurants and quick food places offer up coupons for specific products of theirs or even a discount for the overall bill, but Panera Bread is not one of them. I have been coming here faithfully for over two years (and by faithfully I mean at least once a week), and I’ve yet to come across a single coupon.

Cat litter. At least, not the litter I use. But of course I find tons of coupons for the brands I don’t use. And the weekend…

Aren’t you getting tired of hearing about the financially hard times everyone is having? Unfortunately, the reality of it is – for a lot of people – times are tough. Homes are being foreclosed. Individuals are filing bankruptcy. Businesses are closing. It’s a scary, difficult time and it isn’t fun to talk about, but it’s something that has to be addressed.

Regardless of your financial situation, you can turn it around by being proactive. Here at Super Amazing Savings there are some Finance and Money shops that may help. For instance, Vital Savings by Aetna is offering customers one month free on their discount program, which saves money on dental, pharmaceutical and more. It’s a great program because health insurance policies don’t often cover these necessities.

What are some other ways you can save money? I’m glad you asked because I have a few ideas:

  1. Comparison shop for car insurance: This works well if you have a good driving record. And you can tell your…

I have four cats and a dog. Okay, so I also have three hermit crabs (that are really my husband’s) and two water frogs (that are really my daughter’s), but the cost of their care is so minimal that it’s not even worth mentioning. But the cats? And the dog? Where should I start? Well, I can start by saying that I feed them Wellness. Wellness is a high end holistic brand that focuses on actual meat, vegetables, grains and high nutritional content, as opposed to the crap filler that’s found in discounted pet foods. The upside: healthy, nutritious food for my pets. The downside: it is expensive. I spend $35 for three weeks worth of cat food, and about $40 for a two month supply for my dog (she’s a Pug, which is why the bag lasts so much longer. I’d cry if she were a bigger dog!). Then there’s the cost of canned food, toys, cat litter, yearly vaccinations, etc.

But I do manage to save. One of the local pet stores, Pet Supplies Plus, continually has a $2 off a purchase of $30 or more…
