What do you get a child for their birthday when they are on restriction? My children recently lost all of their toy privileges. I know it sounds rough, but if you knew the entire story you probably wouldn’t have any sympathy for them. Today is my youngest child’s birthday – she is 3 – and with the ban on toys she isn’t getting any. Now one would think that since it’s her birthday the ban should be lifted; however, she is too young to understand that it’s lifted for a special day and she’ll have to relinquish the toys until they’re really earned. I don’t want to experience a 3-year-old fit today.

So, here are alternatives:

  • Definitely cake. Chocolate.com has some of the yummiest cakes I’ve ever seen. I would enjoy them more than my 3 year old.
  • An interactive book. I bought a copy of “Curious George Discovery Day.” I figured she would enjoy it because she likes watching the cartoon and there are things to discover with George. There’s a Books-A-Million deal on several books and they…
